Signs it's time

A roof rarely fails overnight. It leaves clues for years first. Here is what we look for on GTA homes.

Weathered, moss-flecked asphalt shingle roof partway through renovation
  • Shingles curling or cupping

Edges lifting at the corners mean the mat has dried out. No sealant brings them back.

  • Granules collecting in the eavestroughs

That gravel is your roof's UV armour washing away, and bald shingles age fast.

  • Leaks in more than one spot

One leak is a repair. A pattern of leaks is a roof telling you something.

  • Daylight or damp in the attic

Check after a rain. Wet sheathing spreads quietly long before the ceiling stains.

  • Past 15 years with widespread wear

Under 15 with local damage, repair usually wins. Past that with wear everywhere, replacement does.

  • A sag along the ridge

That is the decking underneath, not the shingles. Worth a professional look quickly.

  • Only seeing one or two of these? You likely need a repair, not a roof. We will tell you which.

Asphalt or metal, told straight

Two materials cover almost every GTA home. Here is the honest trade.

Architectural asphalt

The GTA workhorse. Handles freeze-thaw well, installs in a day, and suits every era of house. It is what most of your neighbours chose.

$12,000 to $30,000 Full replacement, asphalt (CAD)

Standing-seam metal

Sheds snow, shrugs off wind, and outlasts asphalt by decades. Costs more once, then stops costing.

From first call to final sweep

Replacement sounds disruptive. Here is the actual rhythm, and why most homes are done in a day.

  1. Free inspection

We photograph and measure everything, on the roof and in the attic. You get the full picture, plain words, no scare tactics.

  2. A clear estimate

One written price, line by line. Financing options up front. It is the only estimate you will need, and it does not expire next Tuesday.

  3. Done in a day

Most homes are stripped, dried in, and shingled in a single day. We protect your garden and magnet-sweep for nails twice.

  4. Backed for 25 years

A 25 year workmanship warranty, transferable if you sell. If anything is off, you call and we come back. That is the whole policy.

Replacement questions, answered

How much does a new roof cost in Toronto?

Most single-family asphalt roof replacements in the GTA run $12,000 to $30,000 CAD depending on size, pitch, layers, and material. Buddy can give you a ballpark in about a minute, and a free inspection turns that into a real written number.

Repair or replace, how do I know?

If the roof is under 15 years old and the damage is local, repair usually wins. Widespread granule loss, curling shingles, soft decking, or repeated leaks point to replacement. We show you photos of your actual roof and tell you straight.

Can you replace a roof in winter in the GTA?

Yes, with the right conditions and cold-weather adhesives. We install above minus 5 Celsius on dry days, hand-seal shingles, and schedule around weather windows. Emergency repairs and tarping happen year-round.
